Mrs. Eleni Polychronopoulou is President of HEMEXPO (Hellenic Marine Equipment Manufacturers & Exporters Association), which has been representing Greek maritime technology specialists since 2014. Established as one of the leading European maritime exporter associations and drawing on Greece’s position as the world’s leading shipping nation, HEMEXPO offers a unified platform which provides a collaborative link between its members and shipowners/operators, class societies and shipyards worldwide.
Additionally, Eleni leads a group of companies whose products and services are focused on environmental protection and compliance in the maritime sector. Following an earlier role in R&D and project management, she now holds the position of Executive Vice President with Environmental Protection Engineering SA, as well as Business Development Manager for BWTS manufacturer ERMA FIRST ESK ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS SA and oneTANK Llc. She is also President of METIS CYBERSPACE TECHNOLOGY SA, a leader in data acquisition, performance monitoring and intelligent analytics, and Director of RWO, a global leader in oily water separators as well as water and wastewater treatment solutions.
More recently, in June 2021 Eleni was elected as Vice Chair of Sea Europe, which represents European shipbuilding and marine equipment associations across 16 countries.
Eleni was previously on the board of the Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology (HIMT) and the Association of Environmental Protection Companies of Greece (PASEPPE), has been part of the Greek Delegation to committees at the IMO, and was the Greek representative for EUROSHORE and the European Association for Co-Processing (EUCOPRO).
Eleni is an active member of WISTA and the Piraeus Propeller Club.
